Miller & Martin recently welcomed attorney Joseph Helm to the corporate department, where he will be working with both the Nashville and Atlanta offices.

With a focus on federal and state taxation, Mr. Helm’s practice includes advising on the tax aspects of business formations, transactions, and reorganizations. He also has a wealth of experience representing business clients before federal and state tax authorities in connection with tax audits and administrative appeals.

“Joe’s broad skillset and knowledge will be a great asset to our corporate department, especially the Emerging Business and Mergers and Acquisitions practice areas,” stated Matt Jannerbo, Corporate Department Chair. “He will help our clients navigate the often complex tax issues associated with corporate and partnership transactions and assist them with mitigating risk.”

After earning an honors J.D. at Emory University School of Law and an honors LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center, Mr. Helm worked for several years in private practice before most recently serving as Director of International Tax with a Silicon Valley-based vaccine development company. He is a member of the Georgia, District of Columbia, and California bars, with the right to practice pending admission in Tennessee.

In addition to his extensive career as an attorney, he is also a music lover. Mr. Helm enjoys playing bluegrass guitar and stand-up bass, and he shares his love of music with his daughter, who often plays fiddle alongside him.
