Attorneys Fullerton and Welton Present Implicit Bias in the Workplace Program for SETLAW Members

April 11, 2019

Attorneys Jenna Fullerton and Megan Welton presented Implicit Bias in the Workplace at the April 2019 CLE luncheon for the Southeast Tennessee Lawyers' Association for Women (SETLAW).

This program informed attendees on Implicit Bias in Labor and Employment Law. Implicit bias refers to the attitudes and stereotypes that are outside of our conscious awareness and control, but affect our day-to-day social interactions. The presenters discussed how implicit bias affects the work place, including hiring, recruiting, and promotions. The presentation further emphasized that everyone has implicit biases, and discussed how recognizing and combatting those biases can benefit any company, firm, or business in the long run.
