Miller & Martin Add Baker and Wilcove to the Atlanta Office

April 04, 2017

Miller & Martin is pleased to announce that Bobby B. Baker and Neil L. Wilcove have joined the firm's Atlanta office.

Bobby Baker joins the firm with 25 years of experience in Government Relations, Utilities & Telecommunications and Bonds & Tax Incentives work.

Mr. Baker started his legal career as a staff attorney for the Southeastern Legal Foundation, a regional conservative public interest law firm. He then practiced with a private law firm in Gwinnett County before seeking elected office.

Mr. Baker was elected to his first of three terms on the Georgia Public Service Commission in 1992 and was the first Republican to win a statewide election for a Georgia constitutional office since Reconstruction. As Commissioner, Mr. Baker worked aggressively to develop competitive markets for utility and technology services and to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses. During his tenure, he oversaw the deregulation of natural gas, growth of competition in the telecommunications market and expansion of alternative energy sources such as solar and biomass. He chose to return to private law practice upon the end of his third term in 2010.

Neil Wilcove brings nearly 20 years of experience with his practice focused on construction litigation, commercial litigation and real estate. In his construction practice, he represents contractors, subcontractors, owners, architects, engineers and material suppliers in payment disputes and delay claims, as well as construction and design defect cases. Wilcove also assists his clients in negotiating and drafting construction contracts. He serves as Legal Counsel for Associated Builders and Contractors of Georgia, Inc. and as Legal Counsel and an Executive Committee Member with Georgia Built.

Wilcove’s commercial litigation practice focuses on the manufacturing sector in payment disputes and design defects. He assists clients with product recalls, consumer complaints and media inquiries. He also assists clients with negotiating and drafting supply and end-user agreements.

His real estate practice includes all facets of real estate disputes, including real estate malpractice claims against attorneys, title examiners, real estate agents and property managers, along with assisting clients with drafting and negotiating real estate and management agreements.

Prior to joining Miller & Martin, Wilcove was a partner with Freeman, Mathis & Gary LLP in Atlanta, Georgia.

Chris Parker, Managing Partner of Miller & Martin's Atlanta office, said, "We are delighted to have both Bobby and Neil join the firm. Both are well known in their respective areas of concentration and, just as important, are great partners for our firm. I have known Neil for many years and have always been impressed with his drive to advocate for his clients. Bobby could not be a more likeable guy. He has already proven to be an asset in several key client relationships and our platform will help his practice continue to grow. When these guys became available, we jumped at the chance to add them to the firm and are glad they are here."
