Townsend Inducted into Legal Aid of East Tennessee's 2018 Pro Bono Hall of Fame

October 26, 2018

Miller & Martin attorney Crews Townsend was recognized by Legal Aid of East Tennessee at its annual Pro Bono Night event on October 25, 2018 for his outstanding commitment to pro bono service and inducted as the inaugural member for 2018 into its Pro Bono Hall of Fame.

At the event, LAET's Pro Bono Hall of Fame was renamed as the Charles W. "Buz" Dooley Pro Bono Attorneys Hall of Fame. Dooley, who practiced civil defense for 30 years in Chattanooga, was a faithful LAET volunteer where for over a decade he spent every Wednesday helping low income clients work through their legal problems. Townsend accepted many pro bono cases from Dooley. A fellow Miller & Martin attorney Ward Nelson was quoted as saying, "When other attorneys would decline a case or didn't know what to do with a case, Buz would turn to Crews and Crews never turned him down."
