Legal Secretary – Litigation – Chattanooga, TN

The Litigation Legal Secretary provides Legal Administrative support to Attorneys and Paralegals in a professional services environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares, revises and finalizes legal documents, pleadings and discovery documents
  • Maintains attorney calendar to include appointments, completes travel arrangements and coordinates attorney meetings 
  • Maintains paper and electronic client files 
  • Files and records documents with the appropriate offices/courts; E-File with State and Federal Courts 
  • Maintain complex case dockets in case management system 
  • Coordinates client billing with business office; resolves discrepancies 
  • Prepares case exhibits for trial preparation
  • Index, track and control document discovery
  • Completes time entries for attorneys 
  • Opens new client/matters following specific Firm protocols 
  • Assists attorney with marketing materials, creates and edits presentations 
  • Closes files for delivery to offsite storage 
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Strong software skills including but not limited to advanced Word and change tracking software.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Must interact with clients, court officials, and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Experience working with document management system; preferably Worksite.
  • Strong ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Three to five years’ secretarial experience in a law firm preferred.
