Miller & Martin is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.  Diversity at Miller & Martin means a workplace consisting of legal professionals and staff with varied backgrounds and attributes including, but not limited to, actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation and disability.

Our Inclusion and Diversity Committee provides leadership, guidance and support around DEI efforts on behalf of the firm. The Committee includes a member of the Policy Committee, the firm’s highest governing body. The Committee is focused on the following pillars:

    1.  Recruitment and pipeline

    a.  Intentional recruiting through select on-campus interview programs and job fairs, including the Chattanooga Legal Diversity Consortium

    b.  Scholarship opportunities

    2.  Retention and mentorship

    a.  Continued emphasis on mentorship and professional development

    b.  On-boarding program in conjunction with the Hiring Committee and Associates Committee

    3.  Training opportunities for the M&M community

    a.  Implicit bias training

    b.  Racial equity training

    4.  Current developments and new ideas

    a.  Education on current developments

    b.  Providing resources for responding to diversity surveys from clients

Inclusion and diversity are vital to the growth and success of the firm, but we also recognize that, as a firm, we have a role to play in our business and civic communities.  To that end, lawyers and staff are encouraged to identify ways that we can further make an impact outside of our firm. The firm has a history of supporting and participating in numerous diversity-related efforts, including, but not limited to:

    •  Urban League of Greater Chattanooga
    • Chattanooga Legal Diversity Consortium
    • Georgia Latino Law Foundation Mentoring Program
    • Women in Technology
    • Commercial Real Estate Women’s Network
    • National Civil Rights Museum Capital Campaign

    • Frontiers International--Chattanooga African-American Chamber of Commerce
    • Lawyers Association for Women

The Miller & Martin community-at-large acknowledges and agrees that our collective efforts best serve DEI issues and are therefore committed to doing so in a collaborative, thoughtful and meaningful way.  We welcome input and feedback from those we serve at any time.
