Joe Helm practices in the area of federal and state taxation, with a significant background in the U.S. taxation of international transactions and corporate structures. His practice includes advising on the tax aspects of business formations, transactions, and reorganizations. Mr. Helm also has extensive experience representing business clients before federal and state tax authorities in connection with tax audits and administrative appeals.
Prior to joining Miller & Martin, Mr. Helm served as Director of International Tax with a Silicon Valley-based vaccines development company, and before that he was in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Washington, D.C. At the beginning of his law career, Mr. Helm was a law clerk to Hon. W. Harold Albritton, III in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. He is a member of the bars of Georgia, D.C., and California.
